Teaching philosophy
At Zion Jiu Jitsu, we believe training shouldn’t be one-size-fits-all. Too often, BJJ classes follow the same old formula: a quick warmup, a few moves shown once, then you’re left to figure it out on your own. For many people — especially beginners — that just doesn’t work.
Our goal is to break that cycle. We teach techniques and the deeper concepts behind them, so you don’t just memorize moves — you understand why they work and when to use them. This builds real skill that sticks, not just a routine you forget by next week.
We know everyone learns differently, so we break things down in ways that make sense for all learning types — whether you learn best by seeing, doing, repeating, or asking questions until it clicks. We keep class sizes small, encourage questions, and make sure every student gets individual attention when they need it.
It’s not about showing off who’s the toughest on the mat — it’s about helping each person grow stronger and more confident than they were yesterday.
Our mats are open to everyone — kids, teens, adults, first-timers, or seasoned grapplers. You’ll find clear instruction, practical self-defense, strong fundamentals, and a community that cares about you on and off the mats.
